Fixed price vs. hourly rate: which suits you?

Quick answer: a fixed price protects you from the unexpected and is the sensible choice from a studio upwards; hourly rates only pay off on small, predictable loads.

What does a serious moving quote include?

A WhatsApp message with a single number is not a quote. Before you accept, check that all of this is in writing: estimated volume in m³ or an inventory; full addresses with floor and lift; what is and is not included; crew size and vehicle; date and time slot; final price with VAT; goods insurance and its cover; and any possible surcharges with the conditions that trigger them. That last line is where most disputes are born.

Frequently asked questions about moving costs

How much does it cost to move a 2-bedroom flat in Madrid?

Between €380 and €650 with normal access and a lift at both ends. Add €40–50 per floor if the furniture has to be carried down by hand, and around €190 if you want the kitchen and fragile items professionally packed. Those three variables explain roughly 90% of the price of any move in Madrid.

Is VAT included in your quotes?

Yes. Every quote we send includes VAT and the figure on the quote is the figure on the invoice. Be wary of "from" prices quoted without VAT: it is the most common way a €500 estimate turns into €605.

What surcharges should I expect?

Four, and all of them can be priced in advance: floors without a lift (€40–50 each), professional packing (€190 in a flat, €320 in a house), dismantling and reassembly (from €110) and an exterior hoist for furniture that will not fit the staircase (from €180, permit included). We do not charge mileage inside the Comunidad de Madrid.

Fixed price or hourly rate — which is better?

A fixed price, in almost every case. With an hourly rate you carry the risk: if the lift breaks down or traffic slows the load, your bill grows. With a written fixed price the risk sits with the company. Hourly rates only make sense for very small, predictable loads.

How much cheaper is moving mid-week?

Between 20% and 30% compared with a Friday or an end-of-month weekend, according to sector data. Tuesday to Thursday in the middle of the month is the cheapest window across the region. We charge no weekend surcharge, but availability is better mid-week.

How is the volume of a move calculated?

In cubic metres. As a reference: a studio is 8–12 m³, a two-bedroom flat 15–22 m³, a three-bedroom flat 25–35 m³ and a house 40–70 m³. If a company quotes without asking about volume, floors or lifts, it is not quoting — it is guessing.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

We do not ask for large deposits. The bulk is paid when the job is done and you have checked everything, by cash, Bizum, transfer or card, always with an invoice. A company demanding full payment upfront in cash is a warning sign.

Is the online estimate binding?

No. The calculator gives you a realistic range in 30 seconds. The binding document is the written quote we send within 24 hours, with inventory, crew, vehicle, insurance and any surcharges priced.
